Lawn Care Myths

There are many myths and misconceptions surrounding lawn care. Here are a few common myths and the truth behind them:

Myth 1: More is better when it comes to fertilizing.

Truth: Over-fertilizing can actually be harmful to your lawn, causing fertilizer burn and even killing the grass. It’s important to follow the manufacturer’s instructions when applying fertilizer and to have a soil test to determine the correct amount of fertilizer to use.

Myth 2: Grass should be cut as short as possible.

Truth: Cutting your grass too short can stress the roots and make it more susceptible to disease and pests. It’s best to leave the grass slightly taller, about 2-3 inches, to allow for healthy growth.

Myth 3: Watering your lawn in the evening is best.

Truth: Watering your lawn in the evening can lead to fungal growth and disease. It’s best to water your lawn in the early morning, when the sun is not as intense, to allow the grass to dry before evening.

Myth 4: Mowing your lawn frequently is better.

Truth: Mowing your lawn too frequently can stress the roots and remove too much of the leaf blade, limiting the ability of the grass to photosynthesize. It’s best to mow the lawn when it reaches a certain height, usually around 3 inches.[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]
